This explains how performer wristbands work for the Chicago Improv Festival. This information is for the 17th Annual CIF, March 31st to April 6th, 2014.
Q: Is there a performer wristband for the Chicago Improv Festival?
Yes. Performers will be given a wristband which will allow them to get into shows when there are seats available. Performers in the curated categories (Long Form, Short Form, Experimental, Alternative, Genre, Musical, Dramatic, Puppetry, CIF Latino, and Emerging Artists) will receive a BLUE wristband. Performers in the Open Stage category will receive BLACK wristbands.
Q: Are the wristbands good for Featured Shows?
No, if a performer wants to see one of the featured shows, they should buy an advance ticket. Shows that are considered ‘featured’ are labeled on the CIF Events page.
Q: How much do the wristbands cost?
The wristbands themselves are free. Performers with BLUE wristbands can get into shows for free when seats are available. Performers with BLACK wristbands can get into shows for $5 when seats are available.
Q: How do performers get their wristbands?
Wristbands can be picked up at the CIF office at the Atheneum Theatre (2936 N Southport Ave, 2nd Floor) at designated times during the week of the festival (Mon-Fri 11am-7pm). They may also be available at certain venues during the festival. We will release more details about places and times to pick up your wristband later.
Q: What else can I use the wristband for?
The wristbands also get you into specific events like the after parties at Stage 773 and special events like “Geeking out with the UCB” on Saturday (there is still a $5 charge for all performers with wristbands for this show).
